Common Seas exists to find, test and facilitate solutions to our global plastic pollution crisis. We were tasked with creating a brand positioning and identity, accompanied by an online platform that would bring Common Seas’ message to life with clarity and meaningful impact.

Common Sea's mission is to significantly reduce the amount of plastic made and to stop it polluting our seas. In practice, that means tackling plastic waste at its source, delivering new ways to manage and re-use plastic, and stopping the leakage into our rivers, seas and ocean.

We collaborated with them to help create a collective call to action to be heard louder, and reach further, than ever before. Our concept was based on a visual horizon that followed cohesively though the logo and wider brand language, in a flexible and dynamic way. The imagery used was shot from above and below the surface – offering a new, deeper, different perspective.

The design of the website embraced this visual horizon concept, providing easy to use components to embed imagery and text where desired. Each project page can be composed into a "long read" format, allowing for the inclusion of text, images, testimonials, video embeds, and sponsor logos and links.

There are three commanding audiences of the website: the general public that is looking to learn more about the organisation; industry leaders and governments that might want to form partnerships; and the sponsors and unsung heroes behind the organisation. This required striking the right balance of inspiration, factual information, and distinct calls to actions.

With a global audience, the website also needed to speak the visitors language - so the site is currently translated in English and Greek, with the foundation laid for more languages as desired.
